Ultrasonic cutting is completely different from conventional cutting. Ultrasonic cutters use ultrasonic energy to melt the material to be cut by localised heating of the material to be cut. The characteristics of ultrasonic cutting knives do not require sharp edges, do not require a lot of pressure and do not cause chipping or cracking of the material to be cut. The cutting blades are subjected to ultrasonic vibrations and have exceptionally low frictional resistance; the cut material does not tend to adhere to the blades. It is particularly effective on frozen, sticky and elastic materials, food, rubber or inconvenient objects. The cutting part has a fusion while cutting. The cutting part is completely sealed to prevent loose tissue (e.g. textile material fly-aways). The range of uses for ultrasonic cutting knives can also be extended, e.g. gouging, scooping, scraping, engraving, longitudinal cutting, etc..
